Jotform review

Behind every successful product, service, advertisement, or campaign – or perhaps a better way of wording it AT THE END of any successful product, service, advertisement, or campaign is a form application. A form or survey application can help you answer questions like

  • What do your customers want?
  • What features do they want to use in your products and services?
  • How much are they willing to pay?
  • Who are your customers?

Often, people think of Google Forms when they need to build a form to collect responses. It’s all and well, but what if you need more options, more flexibility – something that could even automate tasks?

With Jotform, you can create forms online. Your entire team can work on and edit a form together. It has a ton of templates and with its drag-and-drop editor, you can easily customise your forms.

Jotform is one of the earlier providers of online forms. It was launched in 2006 by Aytekin Tank. It operates worldwide and has its headquarters in San Francisco, US.

Pros and cons of Jotform

Jotform is a cloud-based web form builder with a free plan and as usual, if you want more features you need to subscribe to a paid account. As a cloud-based tool, you access the tool via your browser and don’t need to install or maintain the application.

With Jotform, you can build all kinds of forms, from registration to marketing survey for a new product. It comes with a bunch of useful tools that help you organise the data after launching the forms.

Pros

  • forever free plan
  • easy to use
  • enormous template gallery
  • available in many different languages apart from English
  • supports multi-lingual forms
  • 24/7 support

Cons

  • The only gripe that I have is that the free plan is quite limited

Who is Jotform for?

Jotform doesn’t target a specific industry, as long as you need to create online forms, Jotform is a handy option, especially when you work in a team, want to accept payments, prevent spam (Captcha), multi-lingual forms, and allow scheduling meetings.

How easy is Jotform to use?

It’s nice to see that Jotform offers a forever free plan, although it’s a bit limited. Its interface may not look the most elegant – but don’t let it deter you. It’s easy to get around and complete your tasks without having to go through endless menus and options.

You can create a form from scratch, import one, use a template, or create a signable document

The quickest and simplest way to create a form is to choose a template and then use the drag-and-drop editor to place blocks where you need them to be.

The available blocks and elements cover all the basics and more. Jotform also provides form widgets with which you can add e-signatures, checklists, take a photo, and more. Even with the many features, settings, and customisation options, it never feels tedious or overwhelming. On the contrary, even creating a complex form from scratch takes only a couple of minutes. It also automatically saves your progress.

Jotform design and templates

Jotform comes with an enormous template gallery. You can filter it by types, industries, or professions. The gallery is also searchable.

Huge template gallery

Until now, I’ve not encountered a gallery as large and versatile as Jotform’s. The templates are available on free and paid plans.

How to manage your ecommerce store in Jotform?

Although Jotform is not designed as a full-fledged ecommerce software, you can create order and payment forms. This comes especially handy if you want to sell digital goods and services.

Interestingly, Jotform also has an online store builder. With it, you just drag and drop the elements you need to build your online store. In other words, you get a tool to build your storefront. Jotform also lets you manage your orders.

Jotform suite

As you have seen with the storefront, Jotfrom comes with a suite of tools that it calls products. It has a

  • no-code app builder
  • tables app when you want to put your spreadsheet on steroids
  • PDF editor
  • report builder
  • and more

Out of the gates, Jotform gives you what you need to automate tasks. OK, you can’t create complex user journeys (yet) but you can send autoresponders, set up simple user journeys, and create approval workflows.

If that’s not quite enough, Jotform also comes with over 100 integrations.

Jotform integrations

With a wide range of integrations, you can make Jotform work with most other business software. You can make it talk to other apps such as CMS, CRM, accounting, and more.

Payment options

Jotform offers a wide range of payment processing options. There are widely known and used payment gateways such as Stripe and Paypal, but you’ll also see lesser-known options such as Mollie or Moneris.

Jotform security

Jotform secures everything it hosts with SSL. It also complies with industry standards PCI and DSS.

Jotform customer support

It’s always good to see 24/7 support. You can reach the support team via the live chat within your account or via email.

Jotform pricing

Jotform bases its pricing on how many forms and space you need. In other words, the more forms you launch the higher the plan.

For solopreneurs and small businesses, the free Starter plan may be all you need. But, your form will have Jotform’s branding.

Is Jotform the right tool for you?

If you’re regularly launching forms and want to do more with them, Jotform can help you. It’s easy to use and you can quickly create a complex form. It can handle any type of data collection you throw at it.

Jotform even has conditional logic for its form fields so that you can show questions based on a respondent’s answer.
