Nicepage review

Nicepage.com is both an online tool and an application that you install on a Mac or PC. With it, anyone can create beautiful, professional websites but it’s especially interesting for web designers who build sites for their clients.

With its intuitive drag-and-drop editor, premium templates, and web design tools, you can quickly and easily create the perfect website for your business, your clients, or your personal needs. It wants to give back creative freedom to web designers with its freehand editor without coding.

Pros and cons of Nicepage

With Nicepage, creating a website is quite simple. It has a drag-and-drop editor which you can quickly design websites but you don’t need prior coding experience. As you’d expect, it comes with a wide selection of premium templates to help get you started.

Nicepage is a bit different from other website builders since you can use it in two ways. You can either buy the software for a one-time fee and install it on your computer. Or, you can use the online, cloud-based version. The cloud version works like the other website builders and includes website hosting.

Pros

  • Freehand editor gives you a lot of design freedom yet is still intuitive and easy to use
  • You can design and develop WordPress themes, website layouts, WooCommerce themes, Joomla themes
  • A humongous range of templates
  • Forever free plan

Cons

  • You may need to have a basic understanding of web development (HTML, CSS, Javascript)
  • Nicepage is not your common website builder and also doesn’t work in the same way they do, for example, if you want to go live, you’ll need to export your file as WordPress, Joomla, or source code

Who is Nicepage for?

Nicepage is an interesting option for designers and anyone who has basic web design/development knowledge and wants to have design freedom. Thanks to its freehand drag-and-drop editor, you can arrange the elements in the layout as you want, even with overlapping elements.

This sounds more like it’s catering to the professional, especially if you know that its primary function is to design layouts for a website that are hosted by other services and it has tools that designers appreciate such as

  • Website animations
  • Design customisation
  • A giant gallery of pre-made templates, sections, and blocks

But this also means you won’t find features and tools that your run-of-the-mill website builder has such as blogging or ecommerce.

How easy is Nicepage to use?

Don’t be deterred because when you sign up for the cloud version, Nicepage will hold your hand and guide you.

Onboarding

It’s not unlike other website builders in that it allows you to you can drag and drop your elements. With a ton of features and options, Nicepage feels like a pro tool.

Creating a website on Nicepage

And even with a ton of options, Nicepage never left me cursing or scratching my head because nothing was hidden away in endless submenus.

Nicepage design and themes

Nicepage offers a gigantic selection – maybe the largest – of templates. You won’t be missing any style. All of them follow the web design best practices as well as designed based on the trends en vogue. They’re fully customisable.

Nicepage has more than 10’000 website templates

It also has WordPress, Joomla, and HTML templates.

How easy is it to manage your ecommerce store in Nicepage?

Although you can design web stores with Nicepage, running them is a different story. When you’re ready to publish your site, you’ll get the source code. This means you do need to know about HTML, WordPress, or Joomla, and also about Webhosting and the like.

Nicepage integrations

Since you get the source code and have total freedom of using whatever service you like to launch your website, you’re also free to add whatever third party service you want.

What marketing and SEO tools does Nicepage have?

When you’re designing your website, you can use the built-in SEO capabilities to help ensure your website gets seen by search engines. Nicepage allows you to create and customise meta tags, titles, and descriptions for each page, as well as add keywords and other SEO-friendly content to help boost your website’s ranking.

Just as Nicepage doesn’t offer ecommerce features, it also doesn’t have a blogging tool. You can design how your blog looks, but you can’t edit the content of the blog. It’s meant for you to design a WordPress or Joomla theme and then use one of these tools for editing and managing a blog.

Nicepage customer support

If you’ve created a subscription account, you can ask a question, report a bug, or make a request (wishlist) from within your account. It also has a searchable help centre.

Pricing

Nicepage has 4 plans that are available as a one-time purchase or as a subscription. If you plan to create themes for WordPress and Joomla, you need to add the plugins too.

The more pages you want to create, the higher the plan

Is Nicepage the right tool for you?

Nicepage is great if you know your way around web hosting and also have basic web design skills. Then, you get an easy to use freehand editor. You also get to edit the code with its code editor. This means you have full control over the design process.

In a nutshell, it’s a handy tool if you often create websites or themes on a multitude of content management systems.

If you like the idea of having high freedom in the design process but also like to have the convenience of hosting, take a look at Graphite.
