Payhip review

If you’re looking to sell digital goods, you don’t necessarily need all the bells and whistles of the usual shopping cart software. You don’t need certain features such as a way to print shipping labels but on the other hand, you need a way to allow downloads only to those who’ve paid.

Payhip is a shopping cart software geared towards people who sell digital products such as ebooks, music, in short, all types of digital files. When you look at shopping cart software, on the one hand, you can take a self-hosted solution such as WooComerce and on the other hand, you can use an all-in-one service such as Squarespace.

Payhip takes from both worlds: It’s both an all-in-one service and you can use it to embed it into your (self-hosted) site to sell your work. It was founded in 2011 in London by Abs Farah and Kahin Farah.

Is Payhip the right tool for you?

Payhip makes it easy for anyone to start selling digital goods without worrying about a monthly fee or about the technical stuff.

It’s great to test a new product without much overhead.

As Payhip is focusing on digital goods, it doesn’t provide tools optimised for selling tangible goods. So, you’re better of with an all-rounder shopping cart such as Squarespace or Ecwid if you want to embed it.
